Mucho de lo que se esperaba sí sucedió, pero las sorpresas no se hicieron esperar; Clint Eastwood no fue nominado por American Sniper, Jennifer Aniston no pudo escuchar su nombre mientras parecía que sí lo lograría con Cake, The Lego Movie quedó fuera, Hoyte van Hoytema fue ninguneado aunque merecía ser nominado por Interstellar y Lana Del Rey tendrá que esperar otro año para competir ya que Big Eyes fue olvidada.
