La cinta de Guillermo del Toro sigue cosechando triunfos.
La Alianza de Mujeres Periodistas de Cine ha anunciado los ganadores de los Premios EDA a lo mejor de 2017; La Forma del Agua consiguió el premio grande y su director, Guillermo del Toro, fue premiado como el mejor realizador. Sally Hawkins fue galardonada con la presea a la Actuación más Valiente, por su labor en la cinta del mexicano.
Lady Bird cosechó triunfos por Mejor Directora (femenino) y Mejor Guionista (femenino), ambos para Greta Gerwig, y Laurie Metcalf triunfó como Mejor Actriz de Reparto por su interpretación en dicho filme.
Los premios reciben el nombre de EDA, en honor a Eda Reiss Merin, madre de Jennifer Merin, fundadora de la Alianza de Mujeres Periodistas de Cine.
Rose McGowan y Ashley Judd fueron reconocidas por su lucha en contra del acoso sexual en Hollywood, obteniendo el Premio por Logros Sobresalientes de una Mujer en la Industria Fílmica.
